The Characters Of Sex And The City

If you’re going to watch Sex And The City to try to figure out exactly what “style” the main character, Carrie Bradshaw, is, then forget it. Carrie has no set “Style” and you’ll just drive yourself insane. As the most fashion-forward member of the group, Carrie’s closet contains an eclectic mix of vintage, retro, Gap and haute couture. The mix is quite outrageous and extremely fun! Featuring Manolos almost constantly, Carrie also offers up a different signature fashion statement every season. Beginning with her nameplate necklace in season 1 and continuing on with flower pins, Fendi bags, gloves, hats…..

Carrie’s friend, Samantha Jones, is a high-powered PR executive who just happens to have a killer body! By day, she wears suits in bold colors that show off her curves. But by night, watch out! Samantha really turns it up with some extremely racy ensembles that leave very little to the imagination!

Miranda Hobbes, the pragmatic member of the group, has a more austere style for daytime wear. As an attorney, she prefers power suits to get the job done. Her weekend wear is perhaps the most casual of the Fab Four, preferring sweat pants to frilly skirts. However, her choices in evening wear combined with her flashy, red hair, make her a stand-out in any crowd!

Miss Park Avenue, Charlotte York, is perhaps the most prim and proper of the characters on Sex And The City. Her perfectly coordinated designer wear is always crisp and fresh with nary a hair out of place. Even when she jogs, everything matches! And talk about evening wear! Charlotte is the reason little black dresses were invented!

No discussion of Sex And The City would be complete without including some of the men. And who best to start with than Mr. Big? Even though we learn his first name in the final episode of the series, I’ll still always think of him as “Big”. Played by actor Chris Noth, we see Mr. Big in 3 outfits – a Black Armani suit, a Black limo, ….or a bed! Hmmmmm…which do you prefer?!

Steve Brady prefers his jeans and T-shirts above all else. He doesn’t even own a suit. In fact, when he finally needs one, Miranda buys it for him. But who can resist this boyish, fun-loving guy with big, blue eyes and an even bigger heart?

Charlotte’s lawyer, and eventual soul mate, Harry Goldenblatt appears most often in suits as well. As a successful divorce attorney, that’s what he needs to wear to win his cases. Short, bald, hairy, and a little lacking in the social graces, he’s so dedicated to Charlotte that she eventually converts to Judaism so she and Harry can be married.

And last, but certainly not least, there’s Jerry Jerrod, aka Smith. An aspiring actor and fashion model, we see Smith in everything from suits to jeans to leather to…nothing! And his hair goes from long to short, eventually to bald as he shaves his head to support Samantha in her fight against breast cancer.
